Defining indie is a challange for a lot of people especially considering all the grey areas there are. For example, being distributed by a major label owned company, or being on a major label in a different country but on an indie label here in the U.S. To me, independent is a band whose bread and butter is controlled in majority by an independent entity like a label not in cahoots by the big 4.
